Methodology and sources
Every result on NorthWorth comes from a deterministic formula you can inspect — never from a black box. The rules baked into the calculators come from official Canadian sources:
- CRA — TFSA, RRSP and FHSA contribution limits and rules.
- CMHC — mortgage default insurance premiums for high-ratio mortgages.
- Canadian mortgage convention — semi-annual compounding, not in advance.
- OSFI — the minimum qualifying rate (stress test) for uninsured mortgages.
- Common lender benchmarks — 39% GDS and 44% TDS ratios.
- Provincial land transfer taxes and first-time buyer rebates, estimated per province.
These parameters reflect the rules in effect as of the latest update (2026) and evolve — annual TFSA indexing, federal and provincial budgets, mortgage rules. Always verify official amounts with the CRA or a licensed professional before acting.
